Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei was Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) from 1997 to 2009 who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2005 “for his efforts to prevent nuclear energy from being used for military purposes and to ensure that nuclear energy for peaceful purposes is used in the safest possible way”.
Throughout his career, among others at the United Nations and the World Health Organization, Dr. ElBaradei made it a priority to promote the peaceful uses of nuclear power, striving to make radiation therapy available in less-developed countries for the treatment of diseases such as cancer and malaria.
Dr. ElBaradei will speak on "Global equity and security" at the National University of Singapore.
