Almost sixty years after his first visit to the Great Barrier Reef, David Attenborough embarks on a personal journey of discovery to understand how the Reef was created and meets the animals that call it home.

With astounding creativity, cutting-edge scientific research and breathtaking CGI, the world’s most renowned naturalist David Attenborough embarks on a unique, compelling and imaginative journey through the past, present and future of the mighty Great Barrier Reef – the Earth’s largest living structure.

To unlock the reef’s secrets, David Attenborough has joined the Alucia, a 56-metre research and exploration vessel equipped with a state-of-the-art Triton submersible. Ground-breaking natural history sequences reveal the reef’s magical residents and visitors, from the tiny coral animals that build it to the world’s friendliest whales that come to the sanctuary of its lagoon every year to calve.
