The human eye is considered an impressive organ. So much so, that some say the human eye is simply too complicated to have evolved. They say the eye is so perfect that it must have been "designed." But is it really all that?

Because for every amazing thing that our eyes can do, there's an eye out there that does it better. From the eagle that spots a rabbit from two miles up, to the shark that sees through murky waters at night, from chameleon eyes with twice the view, and fly eyes with 10-times the speed, the world is full of animals that see further, faster, and clearer than we do.

We will travel to the farthest branches of the tree of life, to understand how earth's creatures see their environments. And we'll use simulations and demonstrations to illustrate what life would be like if we had these capabilities. By the end of the hour, we will understand why animals have evolved the vision they have, and why ours is often so pitiful by comparison. If the human eye was designed, the designer must not have liked us very much.

National Geographic Channel is Starhub Channel 411 and Singtel Channel 201.
