In this series, adventurer author, broadcaster and writer, Ben Fogle, travels the planet meeting people who have turned their backs on the trappings of Western society and set up home in some of the most isolated locations on Earth.

Each week, Ben spends time in one of the world's most remote locations, meeting the people who now inhabit these inhospitable corners of the planet after leaving their ordinary lives behind. In the Caribbean island off the coast of Panama, Ben meets Ian, a former dump-truck driver from Britain who now lives on his own primitive island off the coast of Panama. In the Southern Georgian swamplands, Ben stays with Colbert, who quit the high finance life and lives in a cabin accessible via canoe. In the Philippines, Ben visits former cab driver ‘Jungle Neil, who left Florida to become a coconut farmer. And finally, in Northern India, Ben meets an ex-fighter pilot. Steve, who is 69, has set up home in the foothills of the Himalayas.

He wonders whether these extraordinary individuals and their incredible experiences might tempt him to move his own family out of London and away from the comforts of the city. Is it daring or downright crazy? Ben wants to discover the truth about life in tough, harsh conditions, where doing battle with Mother Nature is a daily reality.
